A dynamic network of microsystem competencies is forming on the Smart Systems Campus Chemnitz. The large park, occupying almost 4.5 hectares, brings together renowned scientific organisations with a pioneering spirit and entrepreneurship via short lines of communication. It is hoped that young, rapidly growing start-ups will settle here alongside internationally active companies who are market leaders in the industry branch.

In the immediate vicinity of the Chemnitz University of Technology, the Fraunhofer institutes and organisations and microsystem technology companies based in the commercial area, the Campus has the best opportunities to develop into an internationally renowned site of excellence.

With the opening of the StartUp building on the Smart Systems Campus Chemnitz in June 2009, a new site was created where fledgling technology companies could settle. After the TCC office building in Bernsdorfer Straße (opened 1991) and the office and production areas on Annaberger Straße (opened 1995), a third hotbed for high-growth start-ups was thus created in Chemnitz, the "City of Modernity".

The StartUp building offers its tenants 1,500 m² of laboratory space and 1,000 m² of office facilities. A broadband Internet connection and a link to the university network guarantee the rapid exchange of information.
